We were treated to a fine Texas sunrise as we
gathered up at Jim's Restaurant Saturday morning.... and when we pulled out,
we were many Donuts strong. It was Jim Smith in the pearl Chevy, Roy in his
roadster (with his chin strap), Art in his never wet '56, Tony in his
tunes-blasting '58, Chester in the red coupe, Dan Brinkman in his 60's style
'58, Ozzie in the Chevy sedan, Maurice in the Tweety Bird, Stan-arama in his
top up (?) roadster, Paul in his 3-window Deuce (please, make him go last!) me
in the Thunder Chicken, and Huggy Bear in....his 32 coupe...nope. Huggy Bear
in his fine sedan....nope. Huggy bear in the '54 Chevy.....nope. It was Huggy
Bear in a damn Jaguar!! Oh well, at least he was there.
We picked up Jimmy Fingers in a sweet pickup I
had never seen before when we were almost at Lee's place (jimmy say's he just
couldn't pass up free tacos!!).
Ron and Linda Kitchens joined us as we enjoyed
the fine spread put out by Lee and Georgia (I didn't get a chance to say
thanks before)....tacos, sweet rolls, fruit, coffee, juice...man it was all
there!!
Stan was planning on hauling butt once he
scarfed up the chow, but I talked him into staying long enough for a group
shot on the road leading away from Lee's. It seems that Stan-arama had a bunch
of probably un-documented aliens at his house who needed supervision (I didn't
know Stan habla'ed).
When we got to Blanco, the folks were ready for
us and we went right by the registration stand where everyone else was dealing
with the paperwork.
The show was a good one....around 175 cars, and
a lot of old friends to kick tires with.
Mr. Warren Matney joined us at the show, as well
as Larry and Amber Johnson, and we had a Donut Good Time.
Ron Kitchens, Dan Brinkman and Lee Woods all won
awards in various categoriesI wish
you could have been there.
