"The Chicken Oil
Company......what a name for a burger joint! But that's where we were headed
when we left Elgin at around 7:20 on Sunday morning.
Who is we? Well, there was Roy "clean shaven" Reeves driving ol' faithful
"Elvira", Dan "It ain't easy without my '58" Brinkman with his friend Rick,
Ozzie " I'll drive what I want to drive" Wagner, Maurice "Where is my meat
cleaver?" Allen with his passenger, yours "the Thunderchicken is sick" truly,
along with Jimmy "Stretch Cab" Finger, and Bobbie " Is a Deuce cool?" Parker, as
well as Eddie Harris in a fine old '51 Buick.
Once we got to College
Station we were joined by Mickey "I'd rather sleep in" Greer in his way cool
'39, and Wavy in his fine deuce coupe.
If you were there last year , you probably remember it as a painfully cold
day.....ask a couple of donuts who never even got out of their car!.
This year, it was around 20 degrees when we started out, but there was no wind or rain and it turned into a pretty comfortable day once the sun came out. Cars? Yeah, there were a few. My guess would be 250-300. Some you see everywhere you go, but more that you've never seen or only occasionally.
Fine friends, great Texas highways, lots of Hot Rods, good chow.................ya know, the only thing missing was.........you! "
