A big thanks to Ozzie for arranging our visit to
the Titus Electric Company Party. This is the second year that the Donut Gang
has been invited to join Ozzie's neighbor honoring his employees.
Ty is a car fan and a motorcycle nut (he just bought a Victory motorcycle
dealership), and you won't find any of his employees with a bad word to say
about him.
Roy, in his roadster, Art, in his '56, Jim Greene, in his coupe, and Helen and I in the 'Bird all met at Ross's Cafe on Lamar before motoring around the corner to Titus. The Oz Man was waiting there (with Nancy) to get us parked and we were soon joined by Jim Smith in his Pearl coupe, Mr. Warren Matney, in his fine '57 convertible, Mark G., in the "grey ghost", and Jeff Alder in his black '57. There were a few other nice rides joining us (including Jalopy Joe in Norm Jones' old hemi powered '29 roadster).
We were all treated to some dandy frozen margaritas, cold beer and sodas, a fine spread (with some killer berry cobbler!), and some great tunes by a band that has been around as long as I have been in Austin, Duck Soup, who features a nice brass section. There were any number of other activities going on, including radio controlled race cars, face painting for the kids, motorcycle burn-outs, and some pretty good fox watching!
If I go again next year, I'm bring my own roll of tickets for the "Pick Your Favorite Car" event.....I left early, but it looked like The Mayor was ahead.................again!!
