The Donut Gang's Western "Round Up" 2008

Donut Event Prez: Jim & Marti Newton
Up

The weather?  Speck-tack-u-lar!!  The food?  Better than Speck-tack-u-lar!!  The margaritas? Cold and plentiful!  The company?  Grand!
The stage coach?  Incredible!!
Marti and Jim know how to do it!  From the way everybody cruised through to the parking area and had their picture made on the way, to the decorations everywhere you looked, to the armed sheriff collecting the chow money.....it was probably the most organized Donut get-together on record...and it was fun!
Things got off to a slow start on the dance floor, but after the live entertainment provided by Country Music's hottest new duo, Stan and Dave, things seemed to liven up a bit.
Stan and Dave played a set that had it all....from Roy Rogers to Chuck Berry.... it seems like there is nothing that has been left out of their play list!!   And talk about ovations!  The crowd went absolutely wild! With surprise guests like this, the party was destined to be a hit!

One of the great surprises of the evening was the fact that most everyone there got right into the Country and Western motif and were dressed out in boots and Stetsons, most of which haven't been out of the closet in years!  The couples award for best dressed went to Bill and Kathy Ward, decked out in matching Lone Star outfits.  The Ozman won the award for best dressed guy (what would a party be without the Ozman!) and Roy's daughter, Chantell  for best dressed female.
Best dancers award went to Norm and Beverly Jones who were very smooth, with Dan and Jane Brinkman lookin' pretty smooth too.

And the stagecoach!! Talk about setting the tone for a "barn dance"!  Between the coach and the straw bales with saddles and guns and all kinds of western stuff hanging everywhere, the theme was strong.......

On the down side, there were 2 prominent Donuts that drove "civilian" cars......I really don't want to point any fingers, but they both have several cars to choose from, and one was in the musical duo, while the other is a cantankerous old goat!!  You figure it out!
I am trying to make this an exceptional "Event Report" due to the fact that a certain "I don't drive my car in the rain" Donut has purchased a camera that cost more than my monthly Social Security allotment, and is obviously after my "extremely high paying" job as Cub Reporter. I am hoping that my readers over the years will show their loyalty, but it's hard to fight "hi-tech equipment".
By the way, I hope that all who didn't show up had a good weekend too.  We sure did!
